With Afleet Alex and Hurricane Run Scratched, Saint Liam is Breeders' Cup Favorite at All Horse Racing
Thursday, October 13th, 2005BELMONT, N.Y. Oct. 13, 2005 -- All Horse Racing (www.allhorseracing.com), a privately held international gaming company, released its current odds on who will be the favorite to win the 21st Breeders' Cup Classic on October 29, 2005.
"Saint Liam is posting odds at 3-2 - he is a strong horse with a style that favors the tough race at Belmont Park," said Leonard Manley, Marketing Director at AllHorseracing.com.
Other horses to consider include Borrego and Rock Hard Ten, both posting 7-2 odds to win the Breeders' Cup Classic.
Unfortunately, the crowd will not be treated to the blazing speed and plucky presence of Afleet Alex. Trainer Tim Ritchey and veterinarian Pat Hogan feel that the 3-year-old colt's leg requires more time to properly heal from a fractured left-front cannon bone suffered on July 21st. "We are 99 percent there, but for this horse we require 100 percent," said Tim Ritchey.
Another casualty to the rigors of racing is this month's Prix de L'Arc Triomphe winner, Hurricane Run. Hurricane Run had fantastic performance at the Arc, winning by four lengths. Earlier in the season he won the Irish Derby. However, trainer Andre Fabre confirmed that Hurricane will miss the 21st Breeders' Cup due to a persistent cough.
The current odds for the Breeders' Cup Classic:
Bago 20-1
Borrego 7-2
Buzzards Bay 100-1
Choctaw Nation 30-1
Flower Alley 15-1
Imperialism 50-1

Motivator 50-1
